Georgia Torrence
Georgia Torrence is a trailblazer, a southern girl from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and one of three
siblings. In her free time, Georgia enjoys exploring the outdoors through hiking and has a deep
love for music and powerlifting. Furthermore, Georgia finds joy in volunteering with Hospice of
Baton Rouge—Camp Conquer, where she can make a positive impact on the lives of others and
teach children how to identify, express, and conquer emotions. As a first-generation and
nontraditional premedical student, Georgia's journey has been driven by her unwavering
determination and commitment to her education. She obtained associate degrees in biology and
criminal science from Baton Rouge Community College before pursuing her graduate studies at
THE Southern University Agricultural and Mechanical College.
Throughout her academic journey, Georgia has also gained valuable professional experience in
the fields of forensics and the mortuary industry, which have further shaped her understanding of
the importance of precision, attention to detail, and empathy in her future medical career. With a
strong passion for medicine and mental health, Georgia made a career transition into the
behavioral health field, where she currently works as a program manager at a mental health
nonprofit. In this role, she provides vital resources, builds meaningful relationships, and creates
safe spaces for students at the post-secondary education level. Alongside her work in behavioral
health, Georgia also serves as a dedicated Anesthesiology technician, consistently demonstrating
her commitment to patient care and well-being. Through her diverse experiences and unwavering
dedication, Georgia is determined to make a lasting impact in the medical field and contribute to
the betterment of the healthcare system.
