Janan Muhammad
Janan Muhammad is a senior from Baltimore Maryland who attends Bowie State University
majoring in biology with a concentration in pre-medical sciences. Janan’s passion for science
and medicine has moved her to pursue a career in pediatric neurology. In addition to the
pre-med program at Bowie, Janan has completed multiple independent research projects, is a
member of the Bowie state chapter of women in pre-med, and is the founding president of the
Bowie State Muslim Student Association.
Simultaneously, Janan has been gaining clinical experience at the Kennedy Krieger Pediatric
Inpatient Hospital as a clinical assistant in the NBU (NeuroBehavioral Unit). Working directly
with children, connecting with patients, and being responsible for collecting data and
programming patient care, has provided her with experiential exposure in neurology from a
hands-on perspective. Janan maintains a deep devotion to neurological sciences, which fuels
her ambition to become a medical professional; she looks forward to improving healthcare
access for communities like the one where she grew up in Baltimore and achieving real impact
in healthcare equity.
