Kimberly Ontiveros Gomez
FTFP Legacy Brand Ambassador
Kimberly Ontiveros Gomez is a first-generation, non-traditional student and completing her higher education has been far from easy. Becoming a teenage mom didn't determine a path of failure for her future; instead, it became a stepping stone. Kim’s journey has been a testament to resilience, determination, and a passion for making a positive impact. She entered a vocational school to earn a medical assistant diploma, which marked the beginning of a remarkable career in healthcare. Kim dedicated herself to the Kaiser Permanente San Diego Family Medicine Residency Program, where she spent eight years passionately working with diverse populations and towards the goal of reducing uncontrolled hypertension in vulnerable communities.
This dedication to addressing healthcare disparities became a driving force in her professional life. As a wife and mother of two children, Kim has balanced the demands of family, career, and community service. Currently, she volunteers as an interpreter at the UCSD Student-run Free Clinic. She has also been a mentor for the Kaiser Permanente Summer Urban Fellowship Program, where she played a role in inspiring high school students to develop an interest in medicine and realize that pursuing higher education is achievable. In every step of her journey, Kimberly Ontiveros Gomez has shown the power of resilience, determination, and a heartfelt commitment to creating positive change, demonstrating that when driven by passion and purpose, no obstacle is impossible to overcome.
