Laura Hairston

My name is Laura Hairston, and I am a first-year post-grad Biochemistry Pre-Med major from Hampton University. My goal is to become a physician-scientist. One of my memories as a child was seeing my grandmother prick her finger to check her blood sugar level, as result I want to research both types of Diabetes and work towards a cure that will help individuals like my grandmother. I am extremely passionate about what I learn in the classroom and how its applied to our everyday life. Since my motivation is stemmed from someone that I care deeply about, I enjoy doing the necessary work to accomplish my goals. I love people and always welcome the opportunity to make someone's day better than what it may already be. Being a doctor is an immense goal I want to achieve because I enjoy giving back. I strive every day to live by this quote “Anything worth having is worth working for!”
