Mackenzie Otakpor

My name is Mackenzie Otakpor, and I am from Dallas, TX. I am pursuing my bachelor’s degree at Texas State University where I am majoring in Biology as well as minoring in Biochemistry and Pre-Medical Studies. I currently graduate in the Fall of 2023 and post-graduation; my focus will be on my journey in the medical field. Medicine is my future career path because my interest is driven by my fascination with the human body's complex workings.

While at Texas State University I proudly served as one of the Presidents of Women in Medicine, this leadership role allowed me to create a supportive community for aspiring female healthcare professionals like me. I also partake in biomedical research through the PREM program which allowed me to explore and embrace my interest in the intersection of science and healthcare. Through this research opportunity, I was able to present my research at several research conferences, as well as be a co-author of two research papers, and write my own honors thesis on the research I have done over the years.
