Mia Rivers
Mia Rivers continuously embodies the spirit of a Howard University Bison. Mia is an early graduate as of December 2023. While pursuing her B.S in Biology at Howard, she has actively sought to make a difference in her community. Acting as Howard’s oSTEM chapter president and a 2022 Lavender Scholar, she later founded a Japanese culture club and a Be The Match chapter on campus. She currently volunteers at the Children's National Hospital, Northstar Tutoring and the Digital Pioneers Academy in D.C. She has an affinity for supporting the underserved.
In addition to her volunteer work, her keenness for research and work ethic have led to her being part of multiple advancement programs like the Funding the Future Physicians Initiative. This includes Howard University’s ADAR program, GWU’s EPGRAD inaugural cohort in collaboration with the Framingham Heart Study, Yales’s PATHS program, and the Black in Cancer Mentorship program. As Mia prepares for med school applications, she looks forward to pursuing an education and career in pediatric neurology through an MD/PhD. Her dedication and compassion will undoubtedly leave an impact on her patients and field.
