Nkemdilim Cook
Nkemdilim Cook is a native of Baton Rouge, LA. She is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Spelman College, where she majored in Health Science and Minored in Dance. As an aspiring orthopedic surgeon, she hopes to bridge the gap between science and art by opening a practice that includes dance as a post-surgical therapeutic practice. She is currently pursuing her Master’s of Science degree from Boston University. While at Spelman, she actively participated in S.H.A.P.E. (Student Health Associates and Peer Educators), Health Careers Club, Girls Going Global, and GlobeMed. Nkemdilim’s involvement in these organizations helped to foster her love for medicine locally, nationally, and globally as she explored health disparities across different countries. Her diligent involvement, eagerness to learn and affinity for helping others did not cease at Spelman. Currently, at Boston University, she also mentors minority students, offering advice and resources to help them navigate a new environment. This chapter is a glimpse of her relentless pursuit—preparing to embark on a career dedicated to healing and service in medicine. She looks forward to the next steps of this challenging yet exciting medical journey.
