Christy Rodriguez is a graduate student working towards a Master of Science in Cardiovascular and Clinical Epidemiology at Johns Hopkins University. She graduated cum laude with a double major in Biology and Psychology from California State University, Northridge (CSUN). At Johns Hopkins School of Nursing, Christy contributes to the THRIVE study by enhancing dietary behaviors through personalized coaching and supports the Hispanic community with her Spanish fluency. During her time at CSUN, she excelled as Co-Project Manager in the Culture, Health, and Development Lab, leading NIH-funded research and mentoring fellow research assistants. Recently, she conducted research on diabetes and obesity at Keck Medicine of USC, focusing on health disparities in underserved communities. As an intern with the Vida Mobile Clinic, Christy provided crucial health services to underserved populations in California’s San Fernando Valley. She also served as Editor of La Ceiba, a student-led journal promoting scholarly excellence within the Central American community at CSUN. Her roles as a crisis counselor, emergency department volunteer, and mentor underscore her commitment to community engagement. With a passion for research and patient care, Christy aims to make a lasting impact as an epidemiologist and physician-scientist, combining clinical expertise with innovative research to advance healthcare equity.
