Emira Wideman
FTFP 2.0
Hello, I'm Emira Wideman! I'm from Abington, Pennsylvania, and I'm currently a third-year
Biochemistry major at Hampton University. I chose Biochemistry because it matches my
interest in cosmetic science and acts as a foundation for my future career in medicine.
For the past three years, I've been researching the antibacterial properties of nanoparticles in
cosmetics at Hampton, and I've had the chance to present my findings at two annual chemistry
symposiums. Beyond my studies, I'm actively involved in campus life, holding four executive
board positions. I'm currently the Vice President of the Minority Association of Pre-Health
Students and the Historian for Hampton University's NAACP chapter, Chemistry Club, and
Student Recruitment Team. These roles enable me to connect with my peers, contribute to our
community, and promote positive change on campus. I enjoy braiding hair and sharing hair care
tips, which is an important part of our culture, particularly in HBCU communities. I'm proud to
teach others how to care for and embrace their hair, helping them feel more confident.
