Shelecia Reid

Shelecia Reid proudly graduated in Spring 2024 from Florida A&M University, where she obtained
a Bachelor of Science in Biology Pre-Medicine with a minor in African American Studies.
Hailing from the beautiful island of Jamaica, Shelecia attended FAMU on a full-ride
scholarship and now lives in the DMV area.
While at FAMU, Shelecia showcased exceptional leadership as the President of the
Caribbean Students Association, receiving honors such as President of the Year, Chapter
of the Year, and District of the Year throughout Florida. She co-founded the Jamaican American
Student Association (JAMSA) with four peers, bringing authentic Jamaican culture to the
FAMU community.
Her academic accomplishments include being an AHA HBCU Scholar and presenting
research on racial health disparities in Leon County in partnership with FSU’s Department
of Behavioral Sciences and Social Medicine. She was also a BS/MD Summer Enrichment
Scholar and the first XceleadHer Fellow with Xceleader.
In addition to academics, Shelecia served as a teaching assistant for Freshman Studies for three
years and represented her HBCU as a Snapchat Ambassador. Driven by a passion for bridging
cultural and healthcare gaps, Shelecia is committed to inspiring and impacting lives through her
future endeavors.
