Sophia Braithwaite
FTFP 2.0
I am Sophia Braithwaite, working at the New York State Department of Health as a Student Assistant for the Cancer Services Program (CSP). My responsibilities include identifying obstacles that individuals with disabilities encounter in accessing cancer screenings for breast, cervical, and colorectal cancers. I have been creating training programs for providers to address unconscious biases and enhance their interactions with patients with disabilities. Furthermore, I contributed to a health promotion initiative aimed at empowering individuals with disabilities to request accommodations for their medical appointments. I earned my B.S. in Public Health from Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in May 2024. I am currently in my second year as an MPH student at SUNY Albany, focusing on Social Behavior and Community Health, and pursuing a certificate in Maternal and Child Health. I plan to apply to medical school in the upcoming cycle. I was inducted into the Delta Omega Honors Society last May and received the Strengthening the Public Health Workforce Scholarship for my MPH at SUNY Albany.
